Trade-ins with a clear record

With Fixory, a shop buys a customer's device into its used stock, or takes it in part exchange against a sale, with the seller's details and its checks written down.

The acquisition history: an Apple iPhone 12 bought from Tom Hughes for £180.00, acquired and available in stock, with its used-stock SKU and barcode, and Print record, Print stock label and Return / reverse buttons

Buying in and part exchange

A device you buy from a customer goes into your used stock.

  • Take a device in part exchange against a sale, with the balance settled either way.
  • Reverse a trade-in or part exchange if it needs to be undone.
  • Sell used phones on the VAT margin scheme if you choose to. Fixory keeps the stock book, works out the VAT on the margin and never shows it on the customer's receipt.
  • Record the work done to get a phone ready for sale, such as a new screen or battery, with the part taken from stock or a typed cost. You see what the phone really cost and your profit at the price you set.

Seller and device checks

Record the seller's ID type and a partial reference, the result of your IMEI check, and the seller's signed declaration.

  • Devices checked as lost, stolen or blacklisted are refused.
  • A device with finance owing needs a manager to accept it.
  • The device register keeps each device's make, model, IMEI or serial number and condition.
The seller checks of a trade-in: ID seen, the last four characters of the ID number (only these are kept), the stolen or blacklist check, the seller's declaration and a space for their signature

Good to know

  • Fixory doesn't look up IMEIs itself. Run the check with the service you already use, and record the result.

Common questions

Does Fixory check a device's IMEI for me?

No. You run the IMEI check with the service you already use and record the result. Devices you record as lost, stolen or blacklisted are refused.

Can I undo a trade-in?

Yes. A trade-in or part exchange can be reversed if it needs to be undone.
