How do you move a repair shop to new software?

Bring across your products first, then set up staff, your business details and your terms. Start new repairs in the new system on a quiet day, and finish the repairs already in the old one there. Keep the old system's records exported, so you can look up past jobs and sales when a customer comes back.

What should you bring across?

  • Products: names, barcodes, cost and sell prices, and stock levels. Most systems export these as a spreadsheet.
  • Customers, if you want them on day one. Many shops let them build up as people come back.
  • Your settings: business details, receipt footer, logo and terms.
  • Your staff, each with the right access.

What can stay behind?

Old repairs and sales. Export them from the old system as a spreadsheet or PDF and keep them, so you can look up a past job, but don’t try to move years of history into the new one.

How do you switch without a bad day?

  1. Set up the new system and import your products.
  2. Add your staff and give each person a role.
  3. Do a practice sale and a practice repair together.
  4. From the switch day, book every new repair into the new system.
  5. Finish open repairs in the old one, then close it.

How it works in Fixory

Fixory runs in a web browser, so there’s nothing to install on the shop computer. You import products from a CSV or Excel file, with a preview before anything is saved. Your business name, contact details and receipt footer appear on receipts, documents and customer emails, and your logo prints at the top of your documents. Your terms go on a page customers can open from their emails.

Each person gets one of four roles, and new staff choose their own password the first time they sign in. It doesn’t connect to e-commerce services, so your products come in by file import. If you use Xero, Fixory Pro and Fixory Business can send your trade invoicing to your own Xero organisation.

Questions shop owners ask

Can I import my products into Fixory?

Yes. Import products from a CSV or Excel file, with a preview before anything is saved.

What should I do with repairs already in the old system?

Finish them there. Moving a job halfway through risks losing its history, so let the old system run alongside for a week or two until its last repairs are collected.

When should I switch?

Choose a quiet day early in the week, not a Saturday or the start of a busy month. Give your staff an hour with the new system before the first customer.
