How do you get a repair quote approved?

Send the customer the quote as a link they can open on their phone, with the price, the work and what happens if they decline, and let them approve or decline it there. You get a written answer with a time on it, and the repair moves on without a round of missed phone calls.

When do you need a quote?

Whenever the price isn’t certain at the counter: a fault you need to diagnose first, a board repair, a phone that’s been in water, or a repair where a second fault turns up once it’s open. If the price changes, it’s a new quote.

What should a repair quote say?

  • The price, including parts.
  • The work: what you’ll replace or repair.
  • How long it should take once approved.
  • What happens if they decline: whether there’s a diagnostic charge, and when they can collect the device.

Why do phone calls slow repairs down?

You ring, they’re at work. They ring back, you’re mid-repair. The phone sits on the shelf for two days waiting for a “yes” that takes ten seconds to give. A quote the customer can answer from their own phone, when it suits them, removes the wait.

What if the customer declines?

Record it, and the reason if they give one. Put the device back together, move the job to ready to collect and tell the customer. A declined quote handled well is still a customer who comes back.

How Fixory handles quotes

In Fixory, customers approve or decline a quote from a link on their phone, and can give a reason for declining. They get an email when a quote is ready and when it’s accepted. Each repair moves through set stages and keeps its history, so the approval is on the job’s record. You can take deposits and balance payments against a repair, with a receipt.

Questions shop owners ask

Do I need the customer's approval in writing?

It's the safest way to work. A written approval with a date and time settles any later argument about what was agreed and at what price. A phone call leaves only your memory against theirs.

How do customers approve a quote in Fixory?

They get a link to the quote, open it on their phone and approve or decline it. If they decline, they can give a reason.

Should I take a deposit before ordering a part?

For parts you can't use on another job, many shops do. In Fixory you can take deposits and balance payments against a repair, with a receipt.
